It wasn't the most pleasant of surprises when my clients builder knocked down the wall between her old kitchen and dining room only to discover an unidentified steel beam holding up the house. Probably not the finest days work from her structural engineer, but we adapted and overcame.

As it couldn't be removed without sending the cost of the project well over budget, we reworked all of the designs we had previously done to find a way to incorporate her steel that wouldn't compromise anything my client wanted in her dream kitchen and for it still to look fabulous!

It's always nice to incorporate some open shelving

It's always nice to incorporate some open shelving into the run of wall units where possible to keep the space light and flowing. Do not adjust your sets - you aren't seeing double. Actually, you are but in a good way! Such a treat to have taken photos in the Tadworth kitchen that had a unique floor plan resulting in the perfect space to make a double island. Both islands serve their own function with the one on the left having a hob and wine fridge and very much being a cooking/food prep zone while the one on the right has seating and is a sociable space. There aren't too many spaces where this layout works so it was very exciting to be able to include it here #kitchendesign #kitchengoals #kitchenisland #kitchenextension #kitchen #kitchensofinstagram #shakerkitchen #paintedkitchen #traditionalkitchen
